DAVID E. CARLSON David E. Carlson, 91 of Hope, ND died Saturday, January 26, 2013 in the Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown, ND. David was born July 15, 1921 in Rhame, ND the son of Carl and Beda (Wingstrand) Carlson. He grew up and attended school there. He entered the US Army in May of 1943 and served in the European Theatre. He was honorably discharge in January of 1946. Upon returning he made his home in Hope, joining the Pederson family at the “First State Bank of Hope” which now is Dakota Heritage. He served Hope at the bank until retiring in 1985. He was active in the community, serving as mayor in the 1960’s. David was a 75 plus years as a member of the Jefferson-Steinke American Legion Post #18, a huge promoter of the Hope Golf Course. He was generous to a fault, giving to Concordia College, Luther Seminary, local churches and even the Olympics. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by nephew Fred J. (Lois) Landin and his family, niece, Karen (William) Coakley and her family, niece-in-law, Roberta Landin and her family and many cousins across the country. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hope, ND. Visitation will from 12:30 till service time in the Church. Interment will be in the Hope Cemetery, Hope, ND in the spring.
