CLARA RONNINGEN Clara Ronningen, 97, Binford, ND, passed away June 13, 2012 in the Nelson County Health Care Center, McVille, ND where she had been a resident since April 13, 2012. Clara Trostad was born October 12, 1914 to Gunder and Bertha (Odegaard) Trostad on the family farm in Pilot Mound, Twsp. Griggs County, ND. She attended school in Pilot Mound #4 and attended high school in Cooperstown, ND. She was baptized and confirmed in the West Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Jessie, ND, where she was a lifelong member. She married Earny M. Ronningen October 5, 1933 in the First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. The couple farmed their entire married life in the Binford, area. Earny passed away April 4, 2007. Clara was Church organist for thirty one years, active in the Ladies Aid and was treasure up until her death. She helped make quilts for the Aid, her fourteen grandchildren and her forty great grandchildren. Her eyes started to bother her when the seventeen great-great grandchildren started arriving so she settled to playing games instead. She made many birthday and wedding cakes for the people in the community, some of them ending up going out of state. Clara enjoyed throwing horseshoes and bowling. She is survived by her sons; Jerry (Ina Ullirich), Cooperstown, ND; Donald (Donna Oien), Binford, ND; daughter, Virginia Haugen, McVille, ND; fourteen grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Verna, brother-in-law, Nordeen (Nora) Ronningen. Preceded in death by her husband of 731/2 years Earny; parents Gunder and Bertha; son-in-law, Alfred Haugen; siblings, Olger( Alma) Trostad, Ida( Howard) Seeburger, Ralph ( Ethel) Trostad, Thelma ( Oscar) Olson, Ella (Nels) Hillesland, Gladys (Eddie) Rafferty. Funeral services will be Monday, June 18, 2012 at 10:30 am in West Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Jessie, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Sunday at 7:00 pm in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the West Prairie Cemetery, rural Jessie, ND.
