Dorothy Joyce Geiger, 82, Cooperstown, ND, died Monday, May 14, 2012 in the Griggs County Care Center, Cooperstown, ND. Dorothy Joyce Sande was born on March 25, 1930 in Underwood, Minnesota to Hattie (Larson) and Oscar Sande. As a small child the family moved to the Kloten area where she started school. Dorothy attended McVille High School. In 1948 Dorothy’s family moved to Fargo where Dorothy babysat Dr. Wright’s two daughters. She worked at Newberry’s and at an egg factory as an egg inspector. Dorothy married Leo Geiger on June 27, 1949 at St. George Catholic Church in Cooperstown. After marriage Dorothy worked at Bauders and waitressed at Pladsen Café in Cooperstown. Once Leo started farming they lived on farms in the rural Cooperstown and Jessie area until buying and settling on a farm south of Binford. Dorothy was a dedicated mother and housewife. She was involved with St. Lawrence Ladies Aide for many years. They retired and moved into Cooperstown in August 2001. Dorothy entered the Griggs County Care Center in March 2011. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 62 years Leo of Cooperstown, son Darrell (Beverly Warnica) of Ypsilanti, son-in-Law Leslie Pratt of Cooperstown, grandchildren Melanie Pratt of Cooperstown, Joseph Geiger of Jamestown, Michelle (Adam) Middlestead of Aneta, Philllip (Kacy) Geiger of Fargo, and Andrew Warnica of Ypsilanti. Brother DuWayne Sande of Fargo. Brothers and sisters-in laws Leonard (Evelyn) Geiger, Lawrence (Helen) Geiger, and Mary Fode. Step sister and brother- in- law Arlene (Frank) Heinz. One Aunt Eleanor Sather, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Hattie Sande, father and mother in-law Bill and Alvina Pfeifer, daughter Cheryl Pratt, infant grandson Chezera Geiger, sisters Shirley Bjugson, and Ethel Olson, brother Orville Sande, brother-in-laws Bud Bjugson, Gary Fode, and Roy Olson, aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 11:30 in St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Jessie, ND. Visitation will be Friday, May 18, 2012 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Church and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Friday at 7:00 pm in the Church. Interment will be in St. George Cemetery, Cooperstown, ND.
