Henning C. Andersen, 87 of Hope, ND, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Cooperstown Medical Center Nursing Home in Cooperstown, ND. Henning Christian Andersen was born May 31, 1924 in Foster County, ND to Niels and Marie (Helgesen) Andersen. He attended school in Juanita, and Hope, ND. He served in the United States Army Signal Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. After honorable discharge, he became a partner on the family farm. Henning was married to Alice Schmig in Sioux Falls, SD on November 21, 1953. Henning served on many boards including the Steele County Social Service Board for 18 years, and was involved in many church duties. He was the Edendale Township clerk/treasurer for 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a life member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Henning is survived by his wife, Alice of Hope; 3 daughters, Carmen (Gary) Bakken of Hope, Lori (Rod) Wanner of Bismarck and Julie (Clayton) Schumaker of Bismarck; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Esther Dalburg of McVille, ND and Evelyn Haber of St. Cloud, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hans, Helger, Elmer and Frimoth Andersen; and sister, Elly Jacobsen. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hope, ND. Visitation: 5-7 PM Friday, July 1, 2011 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hope, ND. Burial: Hope City Cemetery, Hope, ND.
